memories

As I get older, understanding of certain things begin to dawn on me. - I never understood why it was so important to the older people in my family to decorate the graves of family members/friends on Memorial Day and through out the year. I have begun now understand, more so than I'd like. Once the hands of time have begun to wind, they seem to go in a faster motion yearly. After awhile, there seems to be more and more people who you love buried and gone from this earth. I vividly recall that sometimes my Mama or mom would slow down at certain graves and look off in the distance. Sometimes smiling at the memory, other times just a look of longing was stretched across their face. That is why we journey to the sites that our loved ones rest in. It is a way of bringing them to mind, and honoring their time on earth. Not that we can forget those we love, it just resonants in us to be near to where their final resting place is. <3 Miss you mama <3

Faithfulness

Occasionally just a little break, For all involved sake. A quiet calm corner to reflect, And remove all that protects. Gentle wiping of my gameface, Dry the tears - they have no place. Stand and return, Minding lessons learned. While I may stall, I will not fall. Seared in my memory, All your lies and treachery. In my time of need, You followed Judas' lead. Thought I had your faithfulness, All the while, you couldn't care less. So on this precipice I stand, Searching for dry land. Tarnished and shattered, Looking for what really mattered. Clearly seeing for the first time, Your betrayal is an obstacle to climb.
